Dr. Brad Perras

Dr. Perras joined the Almonte and Gloucester Family Optometrists in March of 2016.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University, and then moved south to attend the Indiana University School of Optometry where he received his Doctorate of Optometry in 2011.

Previous clinical experience includes internships with the U.S. Veterans Affairs Hospital in Pensacola, FL; an ophthalmology clinic in Atlanta, GA, specializing in ocular disease; and several primary care optometric clinics in Indianapolis and Bloomington, IN. Dr. Perras gained valuable experience in contact lens fitting, pre and post-operative cataract and refractive surgical care, glaucoma management, corneal disease, low vision, pediatrics, and binocular vision. He is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO), the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO), and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists (OSO).

Dr. Perras was born and raised in nearby Cornwall, Ontario, where he practiced for several years after completing school. He and his wife, Teresa, have two beautiful children: Juliet and Lawson.  In his free time, he enjoys walking his Goldendoodle Olive, playing hockey, and golfing.

Dr. Teresa Stokes

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Stokes attended the University of Florida, where she was in the Honors Program and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. While in optometry school, she completed her externship training at several prominent institutions including the Illinois Eye Institute, the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, Omni Eye Services of Atlanta, and Georgia Eye Partners in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Teresa Stokes, family optometrist

Dr. Stokes treats patients with cataracts, glaucoma, ocular injuries, dry eyes, macular degeneration, and systemic diseases which may affect the eyes. She also performs routine eye exams for patients of all ages and fits contact lenses. In addition, she has extensive experience co-managing patients before and after surgical procedures such as cataract surgery and refractive surgery.

Through her career, she has been a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. Outside of the office, Dr. Stokes enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Brad Perras, two children, and Goldendoodle, Olive.

Dr. André St George

Dr. André St George did his undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo. He received his Doctorate of Optometry degree with Honors in 1987. Dr. André St George opened Gloucester Family Optometrists in 1987 to serve the needs of the growing bilingual community of East Ottawa.

In 1993 in partnership with his wife, Dr. Evelyn St George, Dr. André St George opened a second practice, Almonte Family Optometrists. In 1993, he received his training in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents from Northeastern State University, College of Optometry, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dr. André St George enjoys a full scope practice in both his practice locations with an emphasis on ocular health and visual care for all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics, pre- and post-surgical care, laser vision correction consultations and contact lenses. Dr. André St George is a member in good standing with the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. He represented Eastern Ontario on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association of Optometrists for 10 years and was a member of various committees including Chair of the Occupational Vision Program and a member of the Executive committee.

Dr. André St George is also involved in the community by providing eye health and vision information to various organizations such as well baby and school age parent groups and hospital based programs for diabetic patients and seniors.

Dr. André St George and Dr. Evelyn St George have five children together, Stefan, Brianna, Erik, Alex and Isabelle, all of who are currently attending undergraduate or graduate university programs. Born and raised in Northeastern Ontario in Sturgeon Falls, Dr. André St George still enjoys the outdoors, boating, fishing, downhill skiing and playing hockey.

Dr. Karen Leung

Dr. Karen Leung joined optometrists Drs André and Evelyn St. George in their Almonte and Gloucester practices as an associate in 2010. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with a BSc in Ophthalmic Medical Technology in 2006.

During her training at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute as an ophthalmic technologist, Dr. Leung had the opportunity to provide specialized diagnostic testing in a variety of sub-specialties in different hospital and remote settings; this included providing eye care in Northwestern Ontario with the CNIB Eye Van and assisting in primary eye care in Cape Dorset and Iqaluit, Nunavut. Dr. Leung then continued to pursue her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. She interned at the John-Kenyon American Eye Institute in Louisville, Kentucky where emphasis was placed on the treatment and management of ocular diseases, and pre- and post-operative management of cataract and refractive surgery. She graduated in 2010 with honours.

Dr. Leung is a member in good standing with the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. Dr. Leung enjoys a full scope of practice with an emphasis on ocular health and vision care for all ages.

Dr. Leung is married to her husband Andrew, and together they have three lovely children.  In addition, Dr. Leung loves spending time outdoors, running and baking. She also takes great joy in serving in her local church as a children’s worker.

Dr. Samantha Kayser

Dr. Samantha Kayser is an Ottawa native who grew up in Kanata. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA, and went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. There she graduated with Honors and Professional Distinction.

After graduating, she completed a residency emphasizing care in Geriatrics and Low Vision, and earned her Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry.

She spent the first few years of her career providing optometric care in rural Virginia, and is happy to bring her family home to Ottawa.
